Give and Guzzle with Negroni Week

Campari — that bitter, red aperitif you can't quite describe — launched Negroni Week in 2013, a weeklong celebration of good cocktails and good deeds. In just two years the event has gone from a handful of participants to more than 1,300 bars raising $120,000 for charity. This year Campari is teaming up with alcohol authority Imbibe Magazine to encourage the spirit of giving and guzzling through June 7.

Porco Lounge & Tiki Room is doing their part this week, supporting local nonprofit Superheroes to Kids in Ohio, which provides costumed visits to children in hospitals and special needs centers. And true to form, the bar is going Polynesian with their featured Negroni Week drink.

"Traditionally it's going to be a Negroni, which is a simple three-part cocktail, but you can do anything as long as you're using a Campari product," says general manager and bartender Shannon Smith. "For us it's the Jungle Bird, which is a classic Polynesian cocktail that uses Campari in it. Which is really hard to find in the style of cocktails that we [typically] make."

Though we'd recommend stopping by Porco's for an expertly made cocktail that benefits kids, here's how to make your own (pictured above), as well as a list of other hot spots to try more Campari concoctions.

Jungle Bird
Mix 3/4 ounce Campari, 1/2 ounce lime juice, 1/2 ounce simple syrup, 4 ounces pineapple juice, 1-1/2 ounces Myers' dark rum.
Serve over ice.
