Best of Cleveland Party -- the Monday after

We feel loved. Hundreds of people turned out at the Rock Hall Friday night for Cleveland Magazine's fourth annual Best of Cleveland Party. Attendance keeps growing year to year -- Angelo's, one of our featured best-ofs, had to send in more pizza to feed the hungry crowd. Hollywood Shuffle and Skinny Moo played on the Rock Hall's first-floor stage.

Metromix, the events website, posted more than 50 photos from the event. Check them out here.

Cleveland Beer Week opens tonight with ceremonial keg-tapping

This is the kind of event we can get behind. The first annual Cleveland Beer Week opens tonight with a ceremonial tapping of the keg at the Winking Lizard in Independence, featuring Jimmy Malone of WMJI and state Sen. Tom Patton.

(We'd be there, but we're heading to Cleveland Magazine's Best of Cleveland Party tonight.)

The rest of the week includes a dizzying lineup of tastings, tappings, talks, brewing demos, beer dinners, an IPA festival -- and, next Saturday, Brewzilla, a 50-brewery mega-tasting at the Euclid Arcade downtown.

To get into the festive spirit, and to remind you of all the malty liquid goodness of Cleveland's brewing culture, we recommend "Beer Ye, Beer Ye," our December 2008 package of stories celebrating the 75th anniversary of our constitutional right to beer.

Live Karaoke

Ready for more than your usual karaoke? Playing Guitar Hero in the basement lost its luster? Tonight, you can take the stage with New Decade at the Boneyard in Mayfield Heights for the first time since we proclaimed it Cleveland's Best Live Karaoke in our October issue. Register here, submit up to two songs (since Halloween is right around the corner, may be suggest AC/DC's "Highway to Hell" or the Cranberry's "Zombie" from the extensive song list), and invite your friends to check out your rock 'n' roll debut. (Or, if you just want to dance, Disco Inferno (Best Revival Band 2005) plays after the OSU-Penn State game at the Mayfield Heights Boneyard.) You can also check out the photos from our Best of Cleveland Party.

Ray's Indoor Mountain Bike Park

In the October issue's Best Of Cleveland package, we name Ray's Indoor Mountain Bike Park as the city's best artificial wilderness. (I'll add a link to the story once it's posted.) It's a 103,000-square-foot former warehouse remade as a half-mile cross-country bike course of rocks and wood.

If you'd like to see it for yourself, but you're not a mountain biker, this Cool Cleveland party (click here, scroll down) on Oct. 16 gives you a chance. If you are a biker, Ray's opens for the season on Oct. 18.
