Mix 106.5 becomes 106.5 The Lake

Clear Channel Radio kicked off the new year by announcing today that WMVX Mix 106.5 is now 106.5 The Lake. The Adult Hits format will feature music spanning four decades. Gary Mincer, president/market manager for Clear Channel Radio Cleveland said in a press release that the station will feature "a surprising variety of songs from lots of decades and a really diverse group of artists." We put the station's "We Play Anything" claim to the test this morning and heard a pretty diverse mix of tunes during our quick listen.

Huey Lewis & the News "The Power of Love" --> Foreigner "Juke Box Hero" --> Kelly Clarkson "Behind These Hazel Eyes" --> Kajagoogoo "Too Shy" --> Kiss "Rock and Roll All Nite"

Listen for yourself at 106.5 FM or stream the station online at www.1065TheLake.com.

At first when I found out about the new 106.5, I was impressed. I then played it for hours, and then I realized its not much different. They added a few 70's songs. Still play the same 80's songs they used to play on the totally 80's weekends. Same 90's songs, and same 20xx songs. I am sure the new name and all the media attention will get more people to tune in. But if you look at the big picture, its still very similar. I do like it better then the old mix1065. Hopefully they will tweak the music and playlists to make it much better then it was before.

Used to listen to "Mix" all the time; then when Brian & Joe got the boot, I quit listening. Happened to check it out on 1/15, noted new name, few commercials (at least on Saturday), but same music mix. Today, I'm back to my new fav 91.3 cause they have a great variety of new and old music and NO Commercials, and great DJ's. No chance I'll listen to "Valentine", nor 106.5 under any name at other times, unless some good personalities on air, few ads, etc. Bring back Brian & Joe!

I stopped listening to 106.5 when the let Brian and Joe go. I have not listened to it since...until they changed the format. Personally, I think it is a cheap excuse for radio.I bet Clear Channel has a hundred EXACTLY like it in different cities with one person doing all the work. Forget it, I'd rather have something more local.

Very good choice on change. The before hosts did not have a clue on Music choice. The station has now been transformed from BORING to a "wanna listen too" station.

I love the music, because I LOVE EVERYTHING! My only problem is they're not letting me request what I want. They give you a choice from their list. Why can't I request ANYTHING? I have a ton of songs to request from the past 40 years!!!
